Expand your jewelry-making skills by mastering three distinct chain-making techniques in this hands-on workshop. You’ll learn to create an array of unique strands suited for your future projects while exploring both traditional and creative clasp designs to seamlessly link your work together.
Handmade chains are true works of art—each link is individually crafted, making every piece as unique as a snowflake. In this workshop, you’ll choose from various wire gauges and shapes, including round, square, flat, and triangular. You'll learn how to shape and form links, solder and join them, and apply finishing techniques such as oxidation, texturing, or high polishing to add depth and dimension.
Techniques covered include coiling wire to create circles and loops, using pin connections for bar links, and crafting intricate designs with matching toggles. You'll also experiment with hammer textures and assorted finishes, from matte to oxidized to high polish. The workshop concludes with the creation of a handmade clasp, ensuring your chain is as functional as it is beautiful.
